Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 341 11/22/08 Best thing since sliced bread!!!

Well, the story behind this is that we often have a joke around here about my not making pancakes for breakfast...Steve asks for them once in awhile, but it is a rare occasion that I do. Actually, I think it is a joke, but maybe Steve doesn't...anyway, I saw this canned pancake batter in the store recently and thought I would give it a try. They are great and today I made pancakes for us for breakfast! They are very, very good and almost too easy. Of course, better to set your camera up first for a shot like this...I almost burnt them. I was just going to take the picture of pancakes, but if I waited much more to turn them they would certainly have burned, I liked the action of my turning the pancake and this became my photo of the day!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 340 11/21/08 Coffee or tea anyone?

We decided to switch coffee/tea/mug cabinet with the spice/flour/sugar cabinet. So, nice and fresh I figured that it was a good idea for my photo of the day including one of my favorite mugs, too.

Anyway, that's it! Never know what a little housecleaning will inspire...With so much time on the computer in recent months I have lots of housecleaning to catch up with!!! Have a good weekend everyone!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 339 11/19/08 A grainy, high ISO, shot of film director, Danny Boyle during a Q&A after a screening of his new film, Slumdog Millionaire! Very interesting and entertaining film shot in India!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 338 11/18/08 A little more Flamingo de-tale!!!

I was just so enamored with the Flamingos. I have seen Flamingos in zoos before, but never saw any with the rich deep orange color of these at the Philadelphia Zoo. I had to post this little crop I did from the back view of one of them.

Thanks all for your comments on my last two 'poultry' portraits...gave me a little taste of LadyKate's specialty! They are really such beautiful creatures! Also thanks on my completing a year on the dailies...It is just so much fun!!!

Have a great day!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 337 11/17/08 Another post from yesterday's visit to the zoo. Thanks Irish for saying this was your favorite!

***Also....I just realized I have now been posting on the dailies for ONE YEAR!!!! WOW, I never thought I would really last that long. AS you can see by the number of posts I have missed some days and certainly don't plan to quit, but my first post was 11/15/07. I am very proud to continue as part of this wonderful community. Thanks to all of you for your inspiration, support and friendship. It really has become a part of my life!!!!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 336 11/16/08 Were your ears burning LadyKate???

When Leslie and I were in the children's zoo today at the Philadelphia Zoo ( the first zoo in the US ) we saw some chickens and Leslie right away saw some that were all fluffy like LK's perfect poultry portrait type of pampered chicks...well then I saw these guys who were running free and I was so happy to be able to take some shots without gates and bars and glass in the way that I took a bunch of the chickens and roosters...thus, my pic of the day from the Philadelphia Zoo is a chicken!

We had a lot of fun this afternoon...Thanks Leslie for the invitation to join you... Hope your leg gets better Matt so you can join us another time...we never did have time to see the Monkeys which are my favorite...saved them for last, then didn't have time to see them. Next time, okay?!

Here is the little gallery I put together from today's outing...Kept it on the small side: Philly Zoo
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > post 335 11/15/08...New York..window seat at restaurant.

***This was just a street shot in the city. We just drove in for the day to visit with friends, see our son and catch a movie! We saw the most amazing documentary, "Dear Zachary"..it will be broadcast on TV December 7th and I strongly recommend it to all, especially our Canadian members..it is gripping!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 334 11/14/08 One of my favorite things. My sister-in-law in Tucson gave this to me when she learned we were moving back to Philly a few years ago...I really love it...Tucson, my hometown!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 333** 11/12/08 Whoa...Turkey buzzard? These guys were hangin' out at the side of the road and I turned back to pull over and take a closer look..they sort of scattered when I pulled up, but I was able to zoom in a little with the G9 on this one who flew up in a tree. They are certainly big guys in the bird world, aren't they? Not too sharp a pic, but glad this one at least gave a view of what he looked like. Just a little contrast and slight tweek of the sharpness was all I could do...

**I just went looking at the number of total "Daily Photos" I have posted since I started and realized I was off on my count. I did miss some days here and there, but I knew that I wasn't that low, so I added my number of posts in 2007 to the number here in 2008 and will continue on from this point with the correct total.
