2007 Daily Shots.

12/31/07 - Brian you were half right! Actually your comment on these 2008 glasses in yesterday's shot gave me the idea to use this as my New Year's Eve post. This guy was drumming out his beat on these overturned buckets.. Part of a New York City kind of celebration!!! Happy New Year everyone! 12-30-07 - We rode the train into NYC today to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the holiday celebrations... There were numerous street shots to take, but this was my photo for the day. These novelty glasses spell out 2008 and the small print on the label says, "Made in China"... That's the future, right??? Healthy and Happy New Year!! ~Hillary

12_29_07 A Walk in the Park with my husband.... A little fresh air, some exercise and a chance to take pictures. Might as well enjoy these 50 degree days.... There will come a time in the near future that it will not be so mild. Good chance to try some scenic photography, not my strength afterall, so good to take the challenge!

12/28/07 - This, amazingly, was an SP taken by me with my cell phone. I was feeling blue today and after my husband cheered me up on the phone I sent him a pic of me smiling, but I noticed I hadn't had any lipstick on. I put on lipstick and took another shot, then used the editing on the phone with a setting called "milky" or something like that. This is the shot unchanged from what was sent by the phone. I thought it was pretty neat.

12/27/07 - We took time for a drive into Lancaster County, PA today. As we drove through the town of Ephrata, PA we saw this group of Mennonite girls playing volleyball behind a school. Glad I have a telephoto zoom on my camera. This was a shot from the street as I was not too sure how comfortable they would be for me to take their picture. I will post a few other shots from the drive in my travel gallery.

12_26_07 I wanted chocolate! Ever make little Chocolate Lava Cakes??? I hadn't until these. MMmm very good!

12_25_07 - Philly Chinatown Chinese Restaurant on Christmas....Busy, busy, busy!

12_23_07 Independence Hall. Yesterday when we went into Center City for the movie, we were early so I asked my husband to just drive the Olde City streets a little in case there were some interesting shots. This was taken through a fence that surrounds Independence Plaza in front of Independence Hall.

December 23rd - Today we invited Steve's 90 year old mother to join us to see a movie in Center City Philadelphia. As we walked to the car she had her umbrella up and... aha... photo-op... Now you can see where my husband gets his good looks! Actually, he looks just like his Dad...but we are hoping he has her good genes!

Okay....here we are together in the bathroom studio... had a hard time for some reason getting one that was more or less centered. I also posted this shot as a Black and White in my experimental gallery...I am not sure which I like best. This SP stuff is fun!!!

December 21st, 20007- Happy 61st Birthday to my wonderful husband Steve. He is my photo of the day and most frequently photographed subject for the past 28 years! Happy Birthday Stevie!!!

12/20/07 -Today was beautiful and sunny and I had time for a walk at lunch! I brought a very healthy lunch, did not touch the chocolates, cookies, nuts, candy or anything junkie that is piled up in the staff lunch room. Then I took a walk for 30 minutes. This was one of my rewards. A lovely reflection of the sky on a still "tow path"... It was a good break for me in many ways today. This is as I shot it, no cropping, sharpening, color saturating or anything...just my camera's view.

12/18/07- SP......This was a recent photo I took after learning that the bathroom and it's well lighted mirror were a good studio for me. Did some adjusting of the contrast and thought it worthy of posting. Now to sleep...

12/17 -OOooops, I uploaded this to the wrong gallery, but I will leave it anyway. This was taken as a self-portrait with a little old Olympus point and shoot that I haven't used in a long time. I did the poster effect again for the fun of it. With work and a photo club holiday party tomorrow night I probably won't post anyway... Will call this one a credit on my posting account!

12/16/07 - We went out to dinner 2 nights ago and I took this shot of our friend enjoying crab for dinner. Tried out a little of the "George type technique" in Photoshop Elements and liked the effect. The shot had not been very sharp due to long shutter speed, so this effect helped in a fun way to make it presentable. What do you think???

12/15/07 - A 2 hour drive and we were in Manhattan today. After a museum, a meal and on the way to a movie I saw this window display... Good for Barbie!!! She has lots of choices to keep warm... I hope PETA doesn't catch her!!!

December 14th, 2007 - What is that crazy, blinding light coming through the kitchen window????? Could it be Annie was right? Yes, it is sunshine....Yay!!!! Oh happy day!

December 13th - This shot was also taken on my lunch hour from work. This was from inside my car! I have seen many of you take photos like this that were impressionistic and I wanted to try, too. At first I was having a very hard time getting my camera to focus on the window and not the cars....then, I realized I could use MANUAL focus... What a clever idea...Duh!!!! Anyway, it made my many gray, gray days here a little more interesting. Maybe, "the sun will come out tomorrow", like 'Annie' always promised.

December 12th,2007 - We had our carpets cleaned today. I was up early to work with my husband to move furniture and 'stuff' out of the way. I took a little nap then this afternoon and when I woke up, this was my view from livingroom into our bedroom. This was to let you know we do not always keep the ottoman stacked up on the chair....

Dec 11th, 2007 - Time for a little outing on my lunch break from work. I had never been to this side of the local pond before. I think the grass was greener....

Dec 10th - You know the expression, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"? Well my new expression is, 'When you drop a fork on the floor with salad dressing on it...take a picture!" Thanks to all of you and your very supportive comments on my pics. I admit to giving in to some blue moods the other day and your responses were very touching. I feel very fortunate to have become a part of this little daily photo community... Thank you! Hillary

December 9, 2007 - Self portrait / Hanukkah party....can you find me????

December 6th, 2007) Symbols of the season....The joint effort of a condo community. This is in the lobby of our building...Actually, I think it is lacking in personality, maybe since it doesn't really 'belong' to anyone. I am not sure who set it up.

11/30 Looking for color after the leaves have flown away....

December 1st....Colorful and anticipating its candles to celebrate the Festival of Lights.... This is one of a few photos that I finally uploaded today (12/8)...There were some that were taken on the same day, but heck, it's my site, right? I was in a low mood this past week and though I took photos, I was feeling they weren't 'worthy of posting" I think it was more that my spirits were low and not about the pics. Thanks Rick O for your encouragement. Comments always appreciated.

December 5th...Our first snow 'treatment' for the season....

December 5th, 2007 - My mind is as cluttered as this work area. I love seeing all your creativity online, but feel overwhelmed to come up with a photo worth sharing each day. I haven't been posting..Today at least I have one to upload, That is all I have to say about it. :(

Dec 2,2007 - New day, different drink.

(Nov 30th) Tea Time! More fun playing with my new 1.4 lens. Love the morning light in my kitchen on sunny days!

(Nov 29) Am I taking too many pictures??? I have a new Canon 50mm 1.4 lens that I am playing with... Did I go too far? Ya think????

(Nov 28) I missed posting for a day or two. This was taken on a 15 minute walk at lunch yesterday in Yardley, PA where I work. Lots of old houses looked interesting to photograph, but in the end this blue pitcher caught my eye and turned out to be my choice for my shot of the day.A little treasure in the garden!

(11/23/07) Thanksgiving is a special time for family and friends... Here we meet our son's girlfriend and her Grandmother. The love comes through, doesn't it????

(November 22) It was quite a party!

(11/22 post) "Oh, I'm glad I'm not a Thanksgiving turkey" sang the goose.... ( Sung to the tune of the Oscar Meyer Hotdog song!) Shot this yesterday, but saved it for today in honor of the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

(November 21st) Another drive-by shot... Ooops, I live near Philadelphia, I shouldn't say things like that. Anyway, amazing warm fall day here. The birds were resting and unsure if they are still supposed to fly south!

(November 20) Well, today was just a quick shot at the last of my 8 conversational Spanish classes at the local community college. 5 students and one teacher. 6 people who's paths may never have crossed other than the 16 hours of Spanish conversation we desired. We were strangers who became friends.

(November 19) Just had to stop the car and take a few shots of these trees that are around the corner from where I live. Many of us are taking time to catch some of the vibrant colors still holding on at this late date. By November 10th last year ( per my husband who pays attention to those kinds of details) there were no leaves on the trees around us at all... Amazing too see all the depth of color still around us. Not a creative photo, but a photo to honor the wonders of nature.

( November 17th) It was a 17 - 7 win for the Philadelphia Eagles today against the Miami Dolphins. It was chilly and rainy, but a lot of fun to be at the stadium for an Eagles win. That warm autum weather we have been enjoying seems to be behind us for now.....I enjoyed the picture-in-picture nature of this shot. Hope you do too. H

(November 16) Well, I found my inspiration today ( or last night, rather) to take photos in the mirror. I can't believe I am posting a shot I took of myself, in my bathroom and in my pajamas, no less. Anyway, it was fun. The lights were bright and my crazy hair was on good behavior yesterday so worthy of a memory. Also, I got a new 'free lipstick' with purchase that I had just tried out... :)
