Post 701 7.18.10 This is Ramya - my dental patient/friend performing at her Bharathanatya Arangetram... Steve and I had one of the most memorable and enjoyable evenings ever! This wonderful young lady performed for the better part of 3 hours yesterday in one of the most gorgeous and interesting dance recitals we have every experienced...then we were treated to a fabulous catered Indian meal with approx 350 people in attendance.. It was a great evening. Congratulations to Ramya!!! By the way, this pic was taken from the upper half of the auditorium with my 70-200IS 2.8. Not all the pictures are quite so clear, but I was really pleased, that with the distance and low light that this came out as well as it did.
Post 700 7.14.10 Who's flying your orchid? I have been enjoying revisiting my gallery from 2008 shot at Longwood Gardens outside of Philadelphia in Chester County. I have it as my slideshow on my home page and it has been fun to view again. This is one of the shots I took in the Orchid Gardens. I just love how so many of the orchids look like they have little mini pilots flying them around. When you shoot with a shallow dof they do look like they are just out in space somewhere don't they?
Post 699 7.13.10 My good friends... On the left is our Daily Photo member Deb (aka Larkphoto) and on the right my good friend and fellow hygienist Jean. Jean has been Deb's friend for many years and introduced us knowing we would have a lot in common..... as usual, she was quite right! As most of you know, Deb lost her 97 year old mother Dorothy at the end of May. Her mother expressed her wishes to have her life celebrated instead of a 'funeral'... Deb asked me to photograph the celebration which I did. This photo is one that I took this past Sunday when Deb hosted a most loving and wonderful afternoon honoring her mother. Her mother was an educator, a poet and fighter for women's rights and fighter against social injustice. It was such an impressive afternoon shared by some very lovely people. If you would like to see the photos from the afternoon, they are Here
