2011 Daily Gallery

in my 5th calendar year of participation in the Daily Photos Community I will try to post a photo every day, and browse the daily galleries as time permits to continue my growth and learning as a photographer. Post 939 12.17.11 An exercise in emulating the great street photographer Vivian Maier.. We were so privileged to see her exhibit in NYC yesterday.. FYI- The two people in the center who are looking up are my husband's cousin Nat and our own Smugmug Dailies Betsy Foster Breen ( she hasn't been on the Dailies for awhile) we met her in Manhattan yesterday and went to the Vivian Maier exhibit at The Howard Greenberg gallery together.
Post 938 12.13.11 RAUL.... yes, an after the show meet and greet shot of my favorite singer these days, Raul Malo.. He is such a great host to his fans after each show. He talks easily and spends time with each person who stays after to speak with him.. He happens to be VERY photogenic as well. This was a quick shot in good light as he plugged in a lamp that was a gift to him from a fan. An empty bottle of Patron tequila made into a lamp..how fun was that!? Please take a peek at the last photo I posted, too.. I had posted it, then hid it as I realized I hadn't asked permission to post it... It was fun and would love to share it! Thanks!!!
Post 937 12.12.11 A family shoot today.... a challenge. New found respect for pro family photographers.. Not easy to get 5 kids smiling, looking in one direction....etc. Sooooo, go with the flow, I say. This was a shoot of 5 cousins.. 3 siblings from one family and 2 in the other. It was cold and they were not really thrilled to be there.. I am not really good at posing people, but I do like to make them laugh a little...loosen up and then catch them having some fun. I think this shot was one of the good ones, it showed off their personalities, i think.....hope the moms agree! ha ha... We'll see... I was busy with work and a Raul Malo concert, then I was in charge of a Philadelphia Help-Portrait location yesterday...Busy, busy..week.. Were any of you involved in Help-Portrait? It was a great day...the 3rd year I've done it and looking forward to doing it again in 2012! i will have to see if any of our shots can be posted here..if so, I'll see if I have something worth sharing. Only took a few shots of the event..as organizer I didn't shoot in one of the studio setups we had.
Post 937 12.5.11 Another shot of this precious family!!! Gotta love how they are holding their precious sister!!! Off to work..I'm late again!!!!
Post 936 12.4.11 A not-so-daily Daily to post.. I did a family shoot yesterday for a friend of mine who had a baby while we were traveling in November.. I posted some of the pregnant mom late October that I took before we left. The little girl is beautiful and has 2 very handsome older brothers. I am working on the processing this morning and thought I would share this one here. I really loved how one of the older brothers kept checking on us as we were talking and taking pictures.. This was the first time I had done a portrait shoot with more than 2 people.. Certainly gives one pause and appreciation for 'Family/Lifestyle" photographers who make their living doing this sort of work... 5 sets of eyes looking in the same direction with pleasant smiles or at least pleasant expressions....not easy!!!
