The Result:Pen–verb (used with object) 14. to write with or as with a pen; put down in writing: to pen an essay. I chose definition #14 from Dictionary.com as I 'pen' my food diary daily as part of my Weight Watchers comittment.. I have not missed a day since January 1st, to pen my food and points value...so today, 5 months since I started I have lost 34 pounds!!! This photo is the form I use to pen my daily diary.

The Result: Last week, when I saw the challenge for this week, there was not room for any other thought in my mind when the word Rose was the challenge than my Aunt Rose. I think most of you already know, but this is my Aunt Rose who passed away last Tuesday morning 5/5/09 at the age of 92. This shot was taken on her 90th birthday....she was a very wonderful and remarkable woman who was loved by all who knew her..she will always be my first thought when it comes to talking about Roses..she was the best!

This was a very nourishing dish of Thai Shrimp and Eggplant with rice that I had last weekend while in Berkeley. It was soooo very delicious and comforting that night. The Furry Friend Challenge...04/27/09 The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Furry Friend." The Result: More than 25 years ago Steve and I went to my cousin's daughter's wedding in Kalamzoo Michigan. We had a litte 'inside' joke about monkeys and bought this little pair from the hotel gift shop on that trip. We have had them 'holding tight' on our bed pretty much every day when it is made since we got them..Just had to sew up the one with the bow as she was leaking some of her stuffing. I told Steve not to worry, it was just to keep up with me since I've been doing well on Weight Watchers. I hope that now she is fixed up I don't start to plateau with my weight loss!!!

The Tree Challenge...04/20/09 The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Tree." The Result: I took a number of shots of trees this last week, but today while walking I saw this tree trunk that had fallen..I loved the texture and wonderful contrasts of color and felt it said more to me than other full sized shots...I'm actually surprised at my choice as there are so many trees bursting with spring blossoms and new leaves, but this seemed more special to me to demonstrate a 'tree'.

The Happy Easter Challenge...04/13/09 The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Happy Easter." The Result: My first thoughts when I know Easter is around the corner is 'When is Passover?". This photo represents this time of year to me. The Matzoh gives us pause to remember the Jews fled Pharoh in a hurry to escape to the Promised Land and had no time for the bread to rise..the eggs of course represent renewal and the cycle of life..the green of asparagus also represents spring and renewal ( as well as a nice splash of color against the eggs and matzohs! ) This was all done back in my kitchen studio!

The Result:This was a shot from Center City Philadelphia the other day when it was so gray and off and on rainy. As I was taking some shots, the sun broke out and this just read: "Spring Flowers" to me! I Ioved the juxtaposition of the bridge in the background still lingering under dark clouds as the sunlight kissed these daffodils!

Shadow from Light Challenge...03/30/09 The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Shadow from Light" The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, MSpencer, Trevlan, FotoEffects, Bill Pador, and myself. The Result: A strong sunlit piece of old farm equipment at the park where I walk. I saw this last week and took a few shots with this challenge in mind. Good thing as there were not too many opportunities in the next few days to see any shadows from sunlight around here! Forgive the copy and paste nature of this caption as I was not able to use my laptop and access my hotmail e-mail where the challenge code would have been sent nor do I know the web address to access it from this computer! Sorry!!! I increased contrast a little, increased saturation a little and sharpened a little. All in Picasa.

The Water and Oil Challenge...03/23/09 The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Water and Oil." The Result: Looks like a little guy abstract character, to me. Just put some oil and water in a dish to see what I would see and this shot somehow had a 'cute' look to it. It might have been better to clean the bowl around his 'head', but the bowl as so precarious in the tilt that I was reluctant to touch it. Anyway, I liked the line art that the shadows produced.

If we really could borrow time and money easily like that it would be great. Seem to be short of both these days!

The Result: My mother's charm bracelet. This was a gift from my father to my mother on their 25th wedding anniversary in 1959. On the back of the calendar where the date of their anniversary has a little diamond, there is an inscription, "To Anne, with love on our 25th anniversary. Ben" They were a wonderful couple and great parents. I always loved the two charms. One for me and one for my brother

The Result: [Last Friday we had a continuing ed course at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia. I took this shot from an upper balcony as I was 'looking down' at the wonderful scene below. IN the past year, my husband has been following a website called SHORPY.com where there are changing posts of photos from life in the US in the early 1900's. This shot, when converted to black and white reminded me of one of those frozen moments in time.]
